Introducing our Melton Mowbray pork pie! I have been told by many my English/ British customers that our pork pies are the best they have eaten in New Zealand. With the danger of blowing one’s trumpet rather loud, we all know that you would have to go a long way (maybe the UK) to find as authentic Melton Mowbray pork pie in New Zealand. The following reasons could have a lot to do with it. We only use pig friendly pork producers for our pork. Our spices are freshly ground, herbs from our herb garden. Also we use the authentic and original ingredient of anchovies. Our own pigs trotters jelly is made here in our kitchen. We even render and make our own lard for our home-made hot water pastry. Come on you cannot pay more homage to the British Melton pork pie than this!
So there you have it, the real deal. If you are an expat from Edinburgh or Newcastle or Dublin or Cardiff or London or even Melton Mowbray you have to try this pork pie. We all know that the so called pork pies which you see in NZ at the supermarkets are an embarrassment and an insult to our beloved Melton Mowbray.
Just imagine a nice dollop of Branston pickle or English mustard or even my home-made mustard on the side of the plate. What did you say? Okay a nice pint of pale ale as well. The kiwis are getting quite good at the craft beer, give credit where credit due.
